About

With over 20 years of experience in vocal pedagogy, performance, and coaching, Kerryn Miller is passionate about helping singers of all ages discover their unique voice and sing with confidence.
Holding an Advanced Diploma in Music (Contemporary Performance and Theory), Kerryn has worked with everyone from complete beginners and nervous first-time singers to experienced performers, audition candidates, recording artists, and professional touring musicians. Throughout her career, she has developed a reputation for creating a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel safe to explore, grow, and challenge themselves.
Kerryn believes there is no single formula for great singing. Every voice is different, and every student brings their own strengths, challenges, goals, and learning style. One of her greatest strengths as a teacher is her ability to intuitively identify what each singer needs in the moment, adapting her approach to suit the individual rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all method.
This philosophy was recently highlighted when Kerryn was invited to work with internationally touring artist Yungblud before a Melbourne performance. The experience reinforced something she has always believed: no matter how accomplished a singer becomes, collaboration, support, and expert guidance remain invaluable. At every level—from a child singing their first song to a professional preparing for a major show—having the right coach can make all the difference.
Kerryn’s lessons combine science-based vocal pedagogy with practical performance skills, focusing on healthy, sustainable technique while nurturing artistic expression. Areas of vocal development include:
• Vocal Fold Connection – Developing efficient vocal fold closure for a clear, healthy sound without unnecessary strain.
• Diaphragmatic Breathing – Building strong breath support for greater control, stamina, and vocal freedom.
• Vocal Placement and Resonance – Finding optimal resonance and projection while maintaining vocal ease.
• Mix Voice – Creating a seamless transition between chest and head voice for flexibility across the vocal range.
• Belting – Developing powerful, contemporary sounds safely and sustainably.
• Head Voice – Strengthening upper register coordination for freedom, range, and tonal variety.
• Vowel Development – Refining vowel shapes to improve tone, resonance, pitch accuracy, and stylistic versatility.
Kerryn teaches a wide range of styles, including contemporary, pop, musical theatre, and classical singing. Her lessons are tailored to each student’s goals while prioritising vocal health, confidence, and long-term development.
Beyond vocal technique, Kerryn has a particular interest in performance psychology, public speaking, and overcoming performance anxiety. Drawing on years of study and personal experience, she helps students develop practical tools to manage nerves, build confidence, and perform authentically under pressure.
As a performer, Kerryn has appeared at weddings, corporate events, wineries, private functions, and international productions. She has worked overseas with a musical theatre company and has coached singers who have gone on to perform in professional productions and appear on programs such as The Voice and Australia’s Got Talent.
Whether you’re preparing for an audition, building confidence, developing professional skills, or simply singing for enjoyment, Kerryn’s personalised and holistic approach will help you unlock your full vocal potential.
