My Method

Like any discipline, vocal techniques and methodologies evolve over time, and I’ve developed my own approach by combining elements of Speech Level Singing, classical foundational techniques, and science based pedagogy I’ve fine-tuned throughout my career. These approaches have been highly effective for both my own performances and the development of my students.

I begin by teaching the anatomy of the voice, covering topics such as the vocal folds, the structure of the soft and hard palate, the larynx, and the role of the diaphragm in breath support. I also tailor my lessons based on the student’s age and experience level. How I teach children is quite different from how I teach teens and adults.

With children, I make lessons fun and engaging, keeping the theoretical aspects light and approachable. We always start with warm-ups and breathing exercises, but I blend the knowledge into activities that feel playful. I actively listen and help them develop their vowels, open their jaw, and relax their tongue. Incorporating microphone technique and singing to backing tracks keeps young students entertained while learning key skills.

For teens and adults, I go deeper into the principles of the voice, with more detailed instruction based on their level of experience. An advanced singer preparing for an audition, for example, will receive a more focused approach to fine-tuning an already trained voice. For beginners and intermediate singers, I introduce them to the wonders of vocal technique. We explore voice placement, mix voice, head voice, and chest voice, along with learning how to belt safely and expand range without straining the vocal cords.

By structuring my lessons according to each individual’s needs, I ensure that my students, whether they are just beginning or refining their voice for professional-level performances, benefit from a personalized and effective approach.
